The delegate of the Environmental and Natural Resources Secretary (SEMARNAT in spanish), Jose Antonio Gonzalez Azuara, affirmed that due to the gasoline spillage at the Arroyo Hondo in the city of Tierra Blanca, the land, flora and fauna have been affected, and the fixture could take up to four years.

In that sense, he said that whoever generates this type of crimes to the environment should be pursued with double the strength.

“Criminal acts that have an affect on the environment should be pursued with double the strength. It is important to understand that we are not only affecting people but ecosystems that generate health problems.”

During an interview, he detailed that during the fixture’s first year, it would be need to restore the riparian vegetation, typical of rivers and arroyos that form lines of climatic and landscape interest.

He said that in the vegetation of the zone there are places where plants are partially submerged, even the arboreal formations of the forest. Regarding the fauna, the public servant estimated that it would be restored completely in approximately three or four years.

“It is almost all clean, we put eight layers of protection, and now the most important is the restoration of it”

He said that SEMARNAT collaborates in the vigilance of the fixtures and it will be the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) and the Federal Department of Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) the ones that will make sure this phase gets done.
