75 percent of the mayors in Veracruz didn’t go to college, leading to deficiencies

- The education average is high school and you could say that in a lot of cases they didn’t even finished it: Beatriz Lara
- It is important to train and update in the public administration area.

The coordinator of the program for the Formation of the city management at the University of Veracruz, Ana Beatriz Lira Roca, reported that 75 percent of the mayors in Veracruz didn’t go to college.
 
In this sense, she indicated that most of the current local mayors just finished high school, and you could say that a lot of them didn’t even finished it.
 
Emphasizing on this subject, she said that from the current workers in local administrations, almost 90 percent finished at least middle school and some of them high school.
 
Lira Roca also said that the mayors that didn’t go to college, also don’t have a public administration profile, and only a few are the ones that are interested in getting trained, or study regarding this subject to better develop their functions.
 
In addition, she mentioned that from the mayors that have college degrees, the predominant major is related to veterinary, which doesn’t fills the profile.
 
To conclude, Lira Roca indicated that the termination of professional studies is important, as well as the constant train and orientation to perform their charges to have a sustainable development in the different cities.
