During the first national encounter of commission legislatures for the gender equality, the state governor Javier Duarte de Ochoa, recognized that the door has not been opened regarding the equality of conditions for women. He admitted as well that “the inequality is a reality, and that we need to assume it with all its magnitude.”

He said that the encounter marked the coordinate and compromised effort to consolidate a full equality between men and women. He reminded that even though Mexico already has an advanced legislature, they are accomplishing their international compromises like the conventions that try to eradicate all discrimination forms against women.

He highlighted that the state of Veracruz remains standing firm regarding the legislature. “We are the state with the highest numbers of UN criteria, and pretty soon with the initiatives for budgeting and normative advances, we will the first ones to observe the totality of dispositions of the United Nations Organization,” said Duarte de Ochoa.

He marked the start of the agenda construction for the development of women rights, recognizing the work that women perform as public servants, as well as the huge advances regarding the adoption of action and parity measures.

In front of the state public servants, he anticipated the agreement that will allow more legislative advances, as well as the generation of public politics and specific programs to impulse and protect in a urgent way human rights and equality for women.

At the end, he stated, “now, more than ever, we have the opportunity to give that next step towards substantive gender equality.”
